Candidates Emerge As Winners In
Primary Congratulations to the winners of our Republican Primary contests. We were fortunate to have so many talented individuals competing for elected office this year. Their willingness to sacrifice time, talent, and treasure to compete for our votes is proof that our Democracy is alive and well. On behalf of the Republican Central Committee for Prince George’s County, I thank each of them for their efforts. Unfortunately, despite the wealth of talent, only one candidate can advance to carry our standard in the 2008 November General Election. With the Primary contests behind us, it is now time to consolidate our efforts behind our 2008 General Election candiates. Please join with me in supporting the following candidates in the upcoming 2008 General Election: Senator John McCain, Candidate for the Presidency of the United States. House Votes for Largest Tax Increase In Maryland History Democrats
Ask “What’s In Your Wallet?” Dr. Jim Pelura, Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party, released the following statement: “This vote is nothing more than an all out assault on the hardworking, tax-paying families of Maryland by the Democrats in the General Assembly. The blatant attempt to take money from Maryland families for special interests is disgraceful. “Taxes
know no party affiliation. We all pay taxes. Republican legislators
deserve the respect and admiration of all Maryland families for putting
forth a fiscally responsible alternative with no tax increases and for
standing up to this economically destructive legislation. In the end,
the Democrats showed they do not respect their constituents or their
financial burdens. The new Democrat slogan seems to be ‘what’s
in your wallet.’” |

House Republicans Offer Fiscally Responsible Budget Plan With No New Taxes ANNAPOLIS - Today, the House Republican Caucus put forth a fiscally responsible budget plan that will eliminate the state budget deficit without raising taxes. For several months, Governor Martin O’Malley and the Democrat leadership have discussed their desire to raise the state’s gasoline tax, sales tax, and income tax, among others. The Republicans have proven that the state budget can be balanced without new taxes being levied on working families. Maryland Republican Party Chairman James Pelura made the following statement: “It is shameful that the Democrats’ knee-jerk reaction to anything wrong in the world is to raise taxes. The House Republican Caucus has demonstrated that if you roll up your sleeves and tackle the budget deficit, you can find real solutions. Working families are already having a tough time making ends meet thanks to O’Malley’s electric rate hike, record gas prices, and the price of other consumer goods on the rise. Republican Leader Tony O’Donnell and the House Republicans are to be commended for their very thorough work on behalf of all Maryland taxpayers.” |
